From Australia's exciting Victoria region, Aquarius is a textured, medium- to full-bodied white blend that delivers mouthfilling stone fruit flavors as vibrant as the winemaker who produced it.
That’d be Jo Nash, who’s head winemaker at McPherson, whose wines are favorite of top critic James Halliday, who rates their estate an impressive four stars and writes that the quality of their wines “is unfailingly good.”
Jo also oversees winemaking at Tahbilk, the oldest family-owned winery and vineyard in Victoria, which produces some of Australia’s most iconic wines, including white wines made from grape varieties that originated in France’s Rhône Valley.
With access to some of the very best Marsanne and Viognier vines in the country, Jo decided to marry these two Rhône varieties in her passion project, Aquarius, as both grapes reach unparalleled ripeness in the brilliant sunshine found Down Under, while still retaining vibrancy and freshness.
In the glass, this translates to a lovely golden hue that wafts enticing orchard fruit, honeysuckle and subtle spice aromas. The palate is rich and creamy, with juicy flavors of peach and apricot. Hints of spice and a fresh mineral streak frame the long, smooth finish.
All in all, it's a delicious match for grilled seafood, lightly spicy vegetarian curries and more. Hurry to claim your share of this characterful Aussie exclusive.
