Saracosa Vermentino is an an exclusive, mouthwatering white from Italian star Sofia Barbanera, the talented winemaker behind our hugely popular Saracosa Rosso di Toscana. With crisp citrus tones and intriguing minerality, it'll surely transport you to the coast of Tuscany.
That's where Vermentino thrives. As top critic Antonio Galloni writes, “the most successful white wines of the Tuscan coast are undoubtedly those made with native grape Vermentino.” And in Sofia’s skilled hands, this fashionable grape reaches its delicious peak.
The renowned Barbanera family have made highly acclaimed wines at their Tuscan estate since 1938. However, their grape-growing history extends back much further, and it’s this tradition that Sofia honors with Saracosa. The wine is named for the Saracosa hill, a site of ancient sun worship and the spot where Sofia’s female ancestors tended the family’s Vermentino vines.
Here’s Sofia on what to expect in the glass:
“Saracosa Vermentino is a mid straw color with peach, lemon peel, and savory herb characters on the nose and palate. It displays the classic hint of sea air and fine mineral backbone of this ancient variety grown in coastal vineyards and is delicious served as an aperitif and with grilled fresh fish and light salads.”
Given the popularity of Sofia’s wines, we expect this fresh release to sell quickly. Hurry for your share.
